Lead pilot of the 2004 Nimitz 'Tic Tac' encounter; sworn 2023 Congressional witness.
David Fravor is a retired U.S. Navy commander and former commanding officer of Strike Fighter Squadron 41, the 'Black Aces.' On November 14, 2004, while flying an F/A-18F off the USS Nimitz roughly 100 miles southwest of San Diego, Fravor and his wingman Lt. Cmdr. Alex Dietrich were vectored to investigate a series of radar contacts the cruiser USS Princeton had been tracking for two weeks. Below them they observed a 40-foot, wingless, white object — described later as resembling a Tic Tac — hovering above a disturbance in the ocean. The object mirrored Fravor's maneuvers and, when he descended to engage, accelerated out of sight in under a second.
